Introduction to LGBTQ Studies

This interdisciplinary course provides students with a theoretical and topical foundation in LGBTQ* Studies. We study U.S. LGBTQ* political, legal, and cultural history as well as LGBTQ* experiences within various social institutions including family, religion, education, and medicine. Additionally, we will study queer theory and consider queer interventions into various disciplines such as anthropology and archeology. Students help develop course content by presenting their research throughout the semester. Additionally, students work to put the knowledge they learn into the world by participating in a semester long WikiEdu project.
