Invertebrate Zoology

Invertebrates are extremely diverse and comprise roughly 95% of all animals, including over 1 million described species. Thus, the goal of this course is to introduce students to the diversity of invertebrates by addressing taxonomy and phylogenetic relationships among major phyla. In addition, we will investigate shared and unique traits, body form, ecological function, and physiology of these organisms. To supplement the textbook, we will also read articles from the primary literature and devote class time to discussion.
