Race, Gender and Nation

This interdisciplinary course introduces students to the study of gender, race, and nation in the United States and in comparative contexts. Topics will include histories of colonialism, inequalities of gender, race and class, the politics of prisons, human rights, cultural representation, and global capitalism, all with a focus on women of color and Third World feminist thought. For the term project, each student will complete an in-depth study of one feminist thinker, activist, or artist and contribute to that thinker's wikipedia page.
