Preparatory Composition
Preparatory Composition is a writing-centered course that emphasizes the development of academic research practices, such as critical thinking and locating and evaluating sources relevant to a writing topic.
For their Wikipedia assignment, students will expand a Wikipedia article on a topic related to a chosen research interest (selected at the beginning of the course).
By the end of the course, students should be able to demonstrate these Wikipedia assignment learning outcomes:
Locate and identify sources that are reliable and verifiable.
Recognize bias in sourcing.
Engage in formal communication processes to share ideas publicly.
Describe ethical writing standards.
Use research and peer review feedback to draft, revise, and edit work.
