Collective Behavior and Social Movements
Through the lenses of classic and contemporary sociological theories and research, this course analyzes panics, crazes, riots and social movements emphasizing institutional and social psychological origins and consequences. Students will be assigned weekly readings pertaining to rumors, fads, fashions, mass hysteria, and other forms of collective behavior, as well as to the topics of social movements and new technology.
