This course, taught in French, covers French film from 1895 to the present. Students also learn technical film vocabulary and how to critically analyze movies and other video clips. Students complete a portfolio of that contains both analytical work in French and "community outreach" work in English. The latter category includes projects such as (a) writing English reviews of French films for the student newspaper or for a website and (b) updating English Wikipedia articles related to French directors or specific French movies. In many cases, this will involve translating the related French Wikipedia page.
