ART 365 Renaissance and Baroque Art

This course provides a survey of Western European culture that explores the art of the 15th-17th centuries. Student lectures will cover major artists and artworks of the Italian Renaissance and western Europe of the Baroque era. For one of their primary assignments for the semester, students will research a topic in Renaissance and Baroque art history and will edit or create a Wikipedia page on this topic. Students will develop the skills to publish concise information on their topic by completing relevant training modules through WikiEdu. In addition, students will critically examine the art historical canon and Wikipedia as a publishing platform in order to understand how systematic bias enters into the process of knowledge creation and can create gaps in published information.
